PeakPass Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 7, 2026
1. Introduction
PeakPass is a mobile app for mountain guides and hiking participants. It helps hikers keep a confirmed history of real hikes, badges, achievements, post-hike reports and photos. It also helps guides create hikes, manage participants, send announcements, close completed hikes, publish post-hike reports and award achievements.
PeakPass is not a social network. It is not built around likes, public feeds, public rankings or public competition. The center of the product is real hiking participation and a practical record of confirmed hiking history.
This Privacy Policy explains what information PeakPass may collect, how we use it, when we may share it, and what choices users have. It applies to the PeakPass mobile app, related services, public website pages and backend services used to operate PeakPass.
2. Information We Collect
Account and profile information
We may collect information needed to create, identify and manage a user account or participant profile, such as:
- user name;
- phone number or account identifier;
- participant profile details;
- profile photo;
- account-related settings and support information.
Hiking participation information
PeakPass may process information about hikes and participation, such as:
- hike participation records;
- confirmed attendance or participation status;
- hiking history;
- badges and achievements;
- reports connected to completed hikes;
- records created when a guide closes a completed hike.
This information helps PeakPass provide a clear record of real hiking participation and related activity.
Photos and media
PeakPass may process photos and media connected to the app, including profile photos, hike photos, photos included in post-hike reports and media upload metadata such as file type, upload time or storage-related technical information.
Media may be stored and delivered using external infrastructure providers, including media storage services such as Cloudflare R2.
Guide and community information
Guides may create and manage information related to hikes and hiking communities, such as guide-created hike information, participant lists, hike announcements, post-hike reports, achievements or badges awarded after hikes, and content used to organize a group or communicate with participants.
Push notification information
If push notifications are enabled, PeakPass may collect and use a push notification token or similar identifier provided by the device operating system or notification service. This token allows us to send app-related notifications to the correct device.
Device, technical and usage information
We may collect device, technical and usage information needed to operate, secure and improve the app, such as device type and operating system, app version, technical logs, app activity data, diagnostic data and approximate technical information related to requests to PeakPass services, including backend services such as api.peakpass.app.
Location or geographic information
PeakPass may process route, map, region, coordinate or other location-related data when location-based features are used or added. For example, this may apply to hike routes, maps, meeting points, regions or geographic context for a hike.
This policy does not mean that PeakPass continuously tracks users in real time. If a feature requires location or geographic data, the app should use it in the context of that feature and according to device permissions and app settings.
3. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- provide and operate the app;
- create and manage user profiles;
- show hiking history;
- confirm participation in completed hikes;
- manage guide-created hikes and participant lists;
- send announcements and push notifications;
- display badges, achievements, reports and photos;
- support post-hike records and memories;
- improve reliability, usability and app performance;
- prevent abuse, misuse and unauthorized access;
- maintain security and service integrity;
- respond to support requests from users and guides.
4. Photos and User Content
PeakPass may allow users and guides to upload or publish content such as profile photos, hike photos, post-hike reports, guide-created hike information and announcements.
Users and guides should only upload content that they have the right to use and share. They should also respect the privacy, safety and rights of other people shown in photos or mentioned in reports.
Depending on app features, hike photos, reports and related content may be visible to relevant participants, guides or the related guide/community context. PeakPass is designed to support real hiking organization and memory, not public attention or social ranking.
5. Push Notifications
PeakPass may use push notification tokens to send app-related notifications, such as new hikes, guide announcements, post-hike reports, achievements and important service messages.
Users can control notification permissions through their device settings. If notifications are disabled, some app updates or guide announcements may not appear as push notifications, but may still be available inside the app depending on the feature.
6. Sharing of Information
PeakPass does not sell personal information.
We may share information in limited situations, including:
- with guides and participants as needed for app functionality, such as participation management, announcements, reports, photos and achievement records;
- with service providers that help us operate PeakPass;
- if required by law, legal process or a valid request from an authority;
- when needed to protect rights, safety, security, users or service integrity.
Information shared within PeakPass is intended to support real hike organization, confirmed participation, post-hike records and related communication.
7. Third-Party Service Providers
PeakPass may use third-party service providers to operate and improve the service. These providers may process data on our behalf for purposes such as hosting and backend infrastructure, database and storage services, media storage and delivery, push notifications, analytics or technical diagnostics, and app distribution platforms.
PeakPass currently operates backend services including api.peakpass.app and uses external infrastructure for media handling, including Cloudflare R2. We do not include secrets, credentials or internal security details in this policy.
8. Data Retention
PeakPass keeps information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain hiking history, support guide and participant records, comply with obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse and improve the app.
Some information, such as confirmed hiking history, reports, photos, badges and achievements, may be retained to preserve the purpose of the app unless deletion is requested or required. Users may request deletion of their information where applicable by contacting us at [email protected].
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by PeakPass. These measures may include access controls, secure infrastructure practices, monitoring and other safeguards appropriate for a mobile app and backend service.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect the service and respond to security issues responsibly.
10. Children's Privacy
PeakPass is not intended for unsupervised use by children. Hiking activities can involve real outdoor risks, and the app is designed for use in the context of organized hiking participation, guides and responsible users.
If children use PeakPass, this should happen with parent or guardian involvement and with any consent required by applicable rules. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided information to PeakPass without appropriate involvement or consent, they can contact us at [email protected].
11. International Use
PeakPass starts in Montenegro, but it may be used by people in other countries. We may process information in countries where PeakPass, our infrastructure or our service providers operate.
When using PeakPass, users should understand that their information may be processed outside their country of residence, depending on the services and providers used to operate the app.

PeakPass helps organize and record hiking participation, but it does not replace guide judgment, user preparation, weather assessment, route safety decisions, emergency services or personal responsibility.
Information in PeakPass, including hike details, reports, badges, achievements or participation records, should not be treated as a safety guarantee, official certification, emergency tool or substitute for professional outdoor decision-making.
